Mike started his career in sales and marketing for Ford Motor Company and National Car Rental. As President of Dairy Queen Canada Mike pulled a major foreign operating division from the brink of bankruptcy and brought it to solid profitability. Later, as Executive Vice President of International Dairy Queen he supervised the international supply operations of this multi-national food service company. His divisions purchased and distributed annually over $300 million of quality products needed by thousands of Dairy Queen, Orange Julius and Karmelkorn franchisees throughout the world.
The challenge of difficult problems is welcomed by Mike. Complex situations that involve financing, human resources, logistics, management assessments and compensation as well as long-range strategizing are his favorites. The more intractable the situation the more intrepid he becomes. His experience in managing scores of people and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue have galvanized his resolve to ferret out effective solutions.
Mike holds a B.S. degree from St. Mary's University and an MBA from the University of Minnesota. For twelve years he served as a member of the board of directors of the International Ice Cream Association. He has been accepted under the rules of the Minnesota Supreme Court as a qualified neutral and volunteers as a mediator and arbitrator of legal disputes. Mike has been and adjunct instructor of Management at St. Mary's University and is a member of the Dakota County Board of Personnel Appeals.
