Are you making yourself recommendable?

RecommendableBeing recommendable can do wonders for your business. For example:

One of my best friends told me that I had to go to this one particular gelateria–that it was “the best” in Italy! She said it was just two doors down on the street to the right of the Duomo in Florence. When she described this to me in Minneapolis, it sounded straight forward. Standing in front of the massive Duomo and facing a cobweb of interconnecting streets, I wasn’t sure that I would be able to find it, but I was determined to try.

The first place my wife, Chris, and I went couldn’t have been right. The gelato was awful. We tossed it and, after reassessing our location in relation to the Duomo, checked out five more gelaterias. Eventually, we discovered the decadent Coronas Cafe. We knew this had to be the one, and later confirmed it by email. It was totally top-end gelato–and well worth the effort. The quality that makes up the flavor of an exceptional gelato is smooth like silk and bursting with decadent flavor. It will make you like an addict always craving more.

Your prospective customers may go to great lengths to seek you out based simply on a recommendation of a friend, colleague, family member, employee, or employer. What are you doing to make yourself recommendable?
