Finally a place for men to go, Man Cave

Where Men Can Be Men

“If a man is alone in the woods, is he still wrong all the time?” Not if he is in his Man Cave.

Last week I was invited by reporter Jim Hammerand of Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal to be part of a panel of business experts to help local serial entrepreneur and college student Nick Beste. The panel included Drew Schmitz and Marni Hockenberg.

While working on his business degree at the Carlson School of Management , Nick has started up his fourth business. This one seems to be ready to take off to the stars. They are doing twice the revenue this month that they did all of last year.

Nick and the gang are likely to do for men what Mary Kay did for women. I doubt their advisors will be using pink Cadillacs, though. ManCave is a consumer products company that is advancing its mission by bring on advisers to sell their products nationwide. Today their 650-plus advisers span across 47 states.

This company has identified a unique market that has not been touched by any other company. It gives men a reason to get together and do what real men like to do: BBQ and eat great meat. They do this by having advisers network with friends and colleges who are will to host a meAting of guys. Then after having a great time drinking beer and learning how to be better at BBQing, they have an opportunity to purchase BBQ products and meats and spices. Among their products are beer cozies equipped with pagers (so you don’t misplace your drink) and circular kabob skewers (which fit better on most plates than standard skewers).

After reviewing the business, I think all four of us had great enthusiasm for the road ahead.

A Panel of Business Experts Meet to Discuss ManCave

Personal Note:

Meeting Nick was like meeting myself and my business partner Rick Diamond 25 years ago. Humble, curious, bright-eyed and optimistic. When you’re in that state, everything is a bright-spot to gain leverage and experience. It was fun to be helpful to Nick and his mission. Thank you Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal for including me in the esteemed panel.
