What conversations are you avoiding?

April 8, 2011

My executive coaching clients are usually receptive to my feedback—after all, it’s why they hired me. When they get defensive, it’s usually a clue that I am onto something deep. If they start avoiding conversations entirely, I know I’m onto something deep.

When do you get defensive and why? What issues do you try to deflect—even from those closest to you?

Start having the conversations you’ve been avoiding. You will not only feel relief, you’ll locate some important and difficult truths. And you’ll have more honest and productive conversations in the future.
