What is my KiSS list for today?

March 9, 2011

KiSSKISS is a memorable acronym for “Keep It Simple, Stupid,” coined by Kelly Johnson, who worked as an engineer for Lockheed Skunkworks. KiSS with a lowercase “i” is a different acronym, but it’s simple and memorable, too.

Before you get caught up in your daily to-dos, repeating a pattern of behaviors that may not be maximizing your effectiveness, ask yourself three questions:

1) What should I keep doing?

2) What should I stop doing?

3) What should I start doing?

These KiSS questions (Keep, Stop, and Start) will test long-standing behaviors, root out unproductive ones, and get you brainstorming—while your brain is fresh and you’re not too immersed in the day’s work to see your way out.
